TechUnited and PSEG announce BetterPlanet Challenge Finalists

Together with BetterPlanet program partner PSEG, TechUnited hosted its 2nd annual TechUnited:BetterPlanet Challenge Semi-Finals on Thursday, September 16th.

The Semi-Finals event, which can be viewed above, kickstarted our excitement for energy and transportation innovation with an opening conversation between PSEG’s Rick Thigpen and TechUnited CEO Aaron Price. The judges included Dawn Neville, Manager of Electric Transportation at PSE&G, Clark Smith, Innovation Director at the NJEDA, and Steve Socolof, Managing Partner at Tech Council Ventures. Ten global startups pitched for their chance to move on to the Finals.

The three startups that emerged the Finalists after careful deliberation and voting from the judges and the audience are HiT Nano, ParkENT Cycles, & IoTecha!

These three innovators will be joining us on stage at the Challenge Finals on October 6, 2021 at Propelify, TechUnited’s largest event of the year. The three Finalists will be pitching PSEG’s CEO, Ralph Izzo, along with two additional judges in the energy and technology space, on the innovation stage to determine who will leave the stage with the $50,000 Final Prize.

In addition to the prize, the finalists benefit from connections to the region’s leaders, media exposure, and mentorship from PSEG. Last year’s winner, WexEnergy, shared that their experience with PSEG was “their commitment comes from the top. PSEG really cares about its mission and its customers and they care about helping us achieve our mission, and they’re giving us a lot of support to get there”.

We’re excited to watch the Finals unfold, in-person, at Propelify, and we hope to see you there. Get your free ticket with code PSEGPropels at propelify.com.
